Special Order of Business in California

Legislative Meaning of Special Order of Business

Occasionally a bill is of such importance that advance notice is given about when it will be considered in the full Assembly or Senate. Notice is given during a Floor Session by requesting unanimous consent to set the bill as a special order of business on a specific date and time. This assures adequate time for debate and allows all members the opportunity to be present. See more about California legislative definitions (including Special Order of Business ).
